Dead Head Reviews is growing by the day. We currently offer reviews and interviews for all things horror, ranging from books to films to games, but we want to offer more. We saw great success with our Women in Horror Month features, and we’re generating fantastic interest for our upcoming Pride in Horror Month. Partly due to the amazing output we’ve seen from these, we’re hoping to run more features throughout the year.
As a team, we want to be a voice for horror, and underrepresented voices, not just in those months dedicated to them, but all year round. We feel offering features, showcasing more in-depth articles, will allow us to do that.
We are opening this up to anyone interested in writing for us, not just our regular contributors. As such, we’re looking for articles on horror, dark fantasy and sci-fi. Not just stand-alone, but series will be welcome as well.
In the first instance, we would ask that the article is pitched to us via our dedicated e-mail. This is to ensure we’re not running too many similar articles too close together.
For the time being, the features will be overseen by our Head Copy Editor, Elle Turpitt, outside of specific events.
To pitch your article, please send an e-mail to email@example.com with the following information.
Subject Line: [Pitch] – Article Title
Body of the e-mail:
Stand alone or series
Estimated word count (longer articles are fine, but will be split)
Estimated delivery date OR frequency for a series (once a month, etc)
Any other information you feel is relevant
If you are sending it for a specific date/event/season etc (Christmas, Independence Day, etc) include that information so we can schedule it accordingly.
Once the pitch has been accepted, the article itself can be copied into the body of the e-mail or attached as a Word Document, but should contain any pictures and links you want to include.
If you have any questions, please feel free to direct them to dhrfeatures e-mail.
Please note, we are not currently a paying market, but we are aiming to become one in the future.
